Many people nowadays are interested in genealogy. They want to know where they come from and try to follow the tracks of their family members of past times. Especially in times of war and expulsion, it is important for them to find out the place of their family’s origin - and the place of their own origin.

In the registers of St Nicholas, dates of our ancestors like birth, baptism, wedding and death have been kept for centuries. Two of the entries are the wedding date of the parents of the famous painter Caspar David Friedrich and also the date of his own baptism.
